Danube Mapping

A geo-spatial development that digitally displays maps (1819-1833) of the of the Hungarian Danube river section from the Austrian border to Petrograd. In the digital processing of the map and text material of the Danube mapping, we aimed to provide users with access to the widest possible range of data in the sources through an easy-to-use interface. The framework combines the advantages of multimedia and native applications, allowing for fast and efficient data management while displaying map sections aesthetically. The interactive user interface allows for seamless browsing of the map files, which are stored in gigabytes of data. The scanned and georeferenced files can be viewed by navigating through the entire area. A search function allows you to select metadata for maps according to the criteria you specify. You can also search textual data in engineers’ handwritten notes and documentation aids.

In addition to visualisation, the geospatial application also offers the possibility to run simpler analyses, geometric and textual extractions. Searching by different criteria in textual, descriptive data is tailored to user needs.
